This Cascade 42 sloop-rigged ocean-going cruiser is a documented vessel named "Born Free". Its previous owner, sailed "Born Free" to the South Seas, as far as Antofagasta, Chile, back north through the Panama and the islands of the Carribean, as far North in the Atlantic as the St. Lawrence River and into the Great Lakes, and back to the Panama Canal and Hawaii.

Born Free's present owner replaced the mast and rigging, refiberglassed the top of the boat, installed 15 new portholes, put a new Volvo Penta diesel engine, new, state-of-the-art dripless packing box, new voltage regulator and charger, new fuel tank and had it rewired. Additionally, the old interior was removed and replaced it with a new interior and paneling. The hull is in excellent shape and is typical of the fine construction of Cascade Yachts. "Born Free" is presently moored at the Ala Wai Yacht in Honolulu, Hawaii. The boat is in very good condition, and was recently drydocked and painted with four coats of the best bottom paint.

Cascades have been finished by hundreds of owners, each in a different way, yet nothing disastrous has ever happened. In fact the problem, if there is one, is that owner-builders tend to overbuild everything. But then the hulls are also overbuilt as well, laminated with 8 layers of 24 oz. woven roving below the waterline on the 29 and 12 layers on the 42. (The expression "bulletproof" is often bandied around, but 45 slugs really do bounce off these hulls, which have survived groundings and collisions that would have sunk lighter boats.)

Both the circular stairway and the elevator come to another locked, security glass door on the second floor that opens to a lanai leading to the apartment's front entrance . What impresses one upon entering, is the brightness, and breezes that permeate into the apartment when the lanai and veranda doors are open. But even with the veranda doors closed, there are beautiful views of the pine forest and the sea. The striking feature of the apartment is the view of trees surrounding the building which blend to combine the indoors with the outdoors.

The apartment features travestine marble floors throughout, except for the two bedrooms where the floors are covered by fine hardwoods and trims. The large and airy, living room opens to a very large canopied veranda, through two wall-recessed rolling doors. The canopy opens and closes for privacy or to offer additional shade. Both bedrooms have built - in, recessed cabinets and drawers that provide ample storage. Recessed autonomous air conditioners have been installed in every room. The bathroom has marbled floors, a bidet, tiled walls and features the finest fixtures. The large, airy kitchen has nice storage cabinets, a window with a view of the sea, and a bar -type of a counter that opens to the dining room area. The Kitchen floors are also covered with marble and the walls are tiled. A large garden below is part of the common area.

The building has a beautiful garden and the area is surrounded with pine trees. Total area of the apartment's interior is 96.28 square meters. The veranda has an area of about 21.5 square meters and extends to the full width of the apartment. It is a great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Including the lanai and the veranda, the total area of the apartment is approximately 125 sq. meters.

There is partial sea view from the master bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room and the veranda. Timming the trees a little would improve greatly the sea view. The apartmetn is presently fully and elegantly furnished and has new appliances - which seller may include for an additional amount.
